Description
This open-pollinated tomato variety was bred over 13 growing seasons to perform well in dry farmed culture in the Southern Santa Cruz County sun belt. Originally taken from second year volunteer tomato plants that germinated in a field planted the previous year with Early Girl Tomatoes. When dry farmed in Western Oregon Dirty Girl has yielded 33% more and shown lower incidence of blossom end rot than Early Girl; is several weeks later to mature than Early Girl; yields small tomatoes closer to a saladette than a slicer; and is very flavorful with deep red color . DFI dry farmed Dirtly Girl in 2021 and began making selections for earliness in Benton County, Oregon.
