Resilient Seed Stewardship Program
The DFI Resilient Seed Stewardship Program (RSSP) aims to:
- Increase accessibility of seed for crops that thrive when dry-farmed
- Continue to adapt crop varieties to dry farming in the Maritime Pacific Northwest
- Provide an online directory of resilient crop varieties, and where to get them
- Partner with local seed companies to improve resilient seed availability
Marketing of Dry Farmed Produce
The Dry Farming Institute (DFI) is launching a dry farmed produce marketing campaign in 2021 to help educate consumers and build awareness about the benefits of dry farming!
Brief Background: The Dry Farming Collaborative (DFC) Marketing Committee worked with graphic designer, Tobias Berblinger to design the ‘Dry Farmed’ product label in 2019. DFI was selected to help steward the label, clarify terms and conditions, and make it available for dry farmers to use. For this first year, DFI will pilot the label with select dry farmers in the Pacific Northwest to be brand ambassadors. We hope to learn what works well this year so that we may improve and build capacity to expand this campaign!
